The Role at a Glance
As a News Writer and Editor, you aren’t just reporting the news—you are the architect of the broadcast. You will oversee newsroom operations during your shift, creating rundowns, selecting impactful audio, and ensuring every word of copy meets the highest standards of accuracy and broadcast style.

Key Responsibilities
This role requires a “get it right the first time” mentality. Your daily tasks will include:
- Story Selection: Reviewing incoming feeds to pick the most relevant stories for the Chicago audience.
- Newsroom Leadership: Acting as the de facto leader in the absence of senior management.
- Content Creation: Writing and approving copy while coordinating with the digital team for a cohesive multi-platform presence.
